February On The River

Launched at noon time with a buddy. We took two boats so we could both work out the winter kinks.
Water temp was 42 degrees with the wind out of the NW 10-25. Clouds were in and out. Nice and warm when the clouds stayed away.
We hit some main river outside bends with rock and wood with no sucess for the 1st hour or so. My buddy caught the first bass of the year on a Jerkbait (2lb LM) in 5ft of water on a sandy flat. I caught the second a (3lb LM) on a lipless a few minutes later in the same area.
We saw bait but had no more hits for the next half hour.
We continued up river and still nothing. At this point we decided to go back to the area we caught the 1st two fish. It turned out to be a good decision we whacked them for the next hour and changed on jerkaits and lipless cranks. My buddy had a few more on a jerkbait than I did on the lipless 16-18 to my 12. What a great time especially for February.
