First Kayak Trip Of 2014
I grabbed the kayak this morning to bring it down to MA, hopefully to be put to use against some stripers! In the meantime however, I had time to head out on Sawyer Lake to some of my preferred morning areas. I have to say that between the kayak and the new rod and reel, I’m in business! I managed to catch three bass, only one being of notable size, before the boat traffic and the blazing sun (note to self; bring water next time) obliged me to quit. The test run against the largemouth bass was successful! Now…on to the prize…

Kayak Bass Catch

- Bait Details: Truth be told I didn’t really bother measuring them out this time, conditions aboard the kayak are a little cramped for that. Maybe I should drill a measuring board to the side. I’m going to guess that this guy was around a pound and a half. I managed to pull in all three bass on my usual power worm/brass weight rig. If I didn’t have the feeling that I’m hardly to the only person to use this combo then I’d patent it!
- Location Details: All fish were caught near my usual morning shore spot. When I’m stuck on shore, all the fish seem just a hair out of reach. Not so with the Kayak!
