Lake Zurich, one of the few glacial lakes in Illinois, provides residents with swimming, boating and fishing, and a relaxing retreat into nature. The Lake Zurich area’s ongoing efforts to preserve and maintain its natural spaces result in endless recreational opportunities for its residents. The Village of Lake Zurich park system is responsible for a total of 227 acres, including 30 acres of parks and four recreation buildings. The park areas consist of a variety of amenities, including neighborhood parks, athletic fields, pedestrian paths and beaches. The main attraction of the Village’s park system is Paulus Park, located on Rand Road just north of Route 22. The park, covering 41 acres, gives access to beautiful Lake Zurich and all its pristine natural splendor. The park’s amenities include a beautiful beach, walking path, fishing pier, concession stand, sand volleyball court, playground area, picnic shelters, skate park, sledding hill, and plenty of open space. Paulus Park is also home to “Kid’s Kingdom,” an expansive children’s playground built by 600 volunteers and with $100,000 raised by the community for that purpose.
