November Tour

I decided to utilize my day off of work on various waters, mainly on foot with the exception of Maspy. I started at Hopkinton Res. the State Park, then went to Lake White Hall. I managed to burn about 500 calories hiking up various paths and threw plenty of casts but didn't even get a nibble.

It was about lunch time so I decided to head back to the house and get some food. Shortly after I decided to take the canoe out on Maspy for a couple hours and I'm glad I did. The water was glass all day at every body of water I had angled and Maspenock was no different. Ideal conditions to look for some fish. I managed to get 4 bass and 1 pickerel on my home turf. The biggest bass was my first one, 18 inches and weighed 3lbs 7oz's which was caught on a weighted tube. This catch motivated me to stay out there and I focused on an area Napa and I had ice fished this past year and had great success. I believe there is under water movement near the bottom which helps to attrack fish. I caught 2 of the bass on a spoon and a bass and pickeral on rubber worms.

I continued my pursuit for Larry at a different pond in Upton called Pratt Pond. The daylight disappeared quickly but I stayed long enough to get two more bass. The place looked ideal and I will definately drop by this spot another day.

Overall I had an awesome day touring the lakes around Hoptown and again Maspy was the place that delivered the most. Season isn't over yet!

  • Pratt is decent..though it is also stocked with Trout and it gets some added pressure due to that depending on the time of the year. With a public beach as well it can get rather busy during the warm months but it does hold some decent fish.

Lake Wildwood holds some big ones as well as some larger sun fish. I live over in Upton and fish Wildwood for some great largemouth and calico, would love to fish it with you and Napa sometime.
