Fox Chain O' Lakes. There is a variety of species in Grass Lake. Due to it's shallowness and murky characteristics, Channel Catfish and Carp abound. During early spring, Bluegill and Crappie can be found spawning. The following lists the types of fish that can be found in Grass Lake, in the order of their abundance: Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, Pumpkinseed, Yellow Bass, Muskie, Walleye, Channel Catfish, Perch, Crappie, White Bass, Northern Pike, Bullhead, Smallmouth Bass, Carp Access Points: Dolphin Harbor located on the east side of the Lake. Haling & Sons Resort & Marina located on the east side of the Lake. Grass Lake is located in Northwestern Lake county, on State Park Road. If your taking the Illinois Tollway, exit at Illinois 173 (Rosecrans Road), and head west. Turn left at Wilmot Road and watch for signs for the State Park. This is a shallow lake, most larger boats will want to be sure to follow navigation buoys. Small boaters (canoes/kayaks....) please be sure to wear your PFD, you never know when a powerboat will pass you at great speed. Inlets: Fox River on the west side (which makes for a great Fishin' Hole) and Lake Marie on the northeast side Outlets: Fox and Nippersink Lakes on the south end.
